We’ll dive into the enchanting world of songwriting. You’ll learn the magic of crafting your own melodies and lyrics, and uncover the power of expressing your individuality through music.
If you have never written a song before, or you have but are looking to strengthen your basics and learn more structure and music theory, this is the session for you! Classes will contain writing drills, rhythm and improv activities, music theory and keyboard harmony, learning basic accompaniment in guitar or piano, top lining and prompts for music creation. You will gain a basic understanding of the main songwriting elements to feel fluent exploring your creativity and skills. The goal for this class is for each student to have between 3-5 finished songs and a group song by the end of the 18 weeks.
The showcase:
We will end the class with a showcase which will be recorded and sent to parents. We can’t wait to hear your creations and see your full potential as a songwriter shine through!
Learn to channel your emotions, ideas and creativity into crafting songs in New Mozart’s Creative Crescendo: A Journey into Songwriting!
We’ll dive into the enchanting world of songwriting. You’ll learn the magic of crafting your own melodies and lyrics, and uncover the power of expressing your individuality through music.
If you are already a songwriter or you feel confident with your skills and have written finished songs before, this is the session for you! You are in for a challenge! This class is ideal if you are hoping to gain more knowledge, experience, collaboration and versatility in your songwriting. You will learn all the most important elements to write a successful song, basic accompaniment skills in piano or guitar, some advanced harmony, collaboration opportunities, an exploration to writing in more than 8 music genres, a dive into the world of Music Licensing and you'll even learn how to use Digital Audio Workstations to record your music professionally! The goal for this class is to write a new song every other week to achieve a good music portfolio.

Instructor Info
Teacher Maria is a singer/songwriter born and raised in Cali, Colombia. She came to the US to follow her passion for music and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Music Industry from The College of Saint Rose New York. Growing up, she won various singing competitions and was an opener for big music festivals in Colombia. Now, under the artist name “Ria Carval”, Maria’s Pop & Latin single and album releases have more than 100k streams in music platforms, reaching radio, blogs, magazines, newspapers and TV appearances worldwide. Her vocal training is very diverse after experiencing classes with remarkable opera, gospel, pop, musical theatre and even rock singers. She also learned piano at a young age, was trained on jazz and contemporary piano techniques and it is now the instrument she uses to write songs on the daily. After being a music educator for more than 4 years, Maria has developed a passion in teaching children and adults the magic and welcoming nature of music. In everything she does, her purpose “Feel To Heal” is what makes her a great teacher. “I want my students to learn that feeling is powerful, and music can become a place for them to dream, grow and embrace their uniqueness and potential”.
